A divine dessert that my mother always made for me when I was little! A dessert made by alternating layers of phyllo pastry and apples enriched with chopped walnuts, a real delight! You won’t believe it, but it’s also vegan, made without eggs, butter, or milk!

Ingredients for the Phyllo Pastry Dessert with Apples and Walnuts:

  • 1 package phyllo pastry (About 14 oz)
  • 2.2 lbs apples
  • ground cinnamon
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • vegetable oil
  • walnuts (Chopped)

Steps

The preparation of the Phyllo Pastry Dessert with Apples and Walnuts is very simple, watch the video HERE.

  • First, we take care of the apples, we wash, peel, and grate them. We put them in a pan, add the sugar.

  • Add the cinnamon and cook for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Turn off the heat and let cool. In a baking dish with parchment paper, place about 1/3 of the phyllo pastry.

  • Add some oil and brush the entire surface. Place half of the cooled apples and sprinkle. Add some chopped walnuts.

  • Place another layer of phyllo pastry (2/3). Brush with oil then place the remaining apples and sprinkle well.

  • Add more walnuts and cover with the remaining phyllo pastry. Brush with oil and add some brown sugar on top.

  • Cut into squares of the desired size and bake at 356°F for about 30 minutes.
