The Danubio is excellent as an appetizer or as an aperitif for lunch or Christmas Eve, New Year’s Eve, or any festive occasion. I must say this recipe is very quick to prepare as I used a ready-made base, and I will tell you more: if you prefer, you can also use puff pastry. During the Christmas holidays, salmon is never missing in our preparations and is always liked by everyone, so with this recipe, you will surely impress!

Ingredients for Savory Danubio with Salmon and Ricotta:

  • 1 roll ready-made focaccia base
  • 3.5 oz smoked salmon
  • 5.3 oz ricotta
  • 1.4 tbsp milk
  • poppy seeds
  • salt

Steps

The preparation of the Savory Danubio with Salmon and Ricotta is very simple and quick, watch the video HERE.

  • First, prepare the filling. Put the salmon, ricotta, a bit of salt and blend to obtain a smooth cream. Open the dough and cut 15 squares of the same size.

  • Place a teaspoon of filling in the center of each square and close to form balls. Make sure to close them well, otherwise the filling can leak during cooking. Once you finish all the balls, arrange them on a baking sheet to form a tree (watch the video HERE). Brush them with a bit of milk.

  • Sprinkle some poppy seeds on top. Bake at 356°F for about 30/40 min.
