Ingredients for Vegan Orange and Apple Half-Moons:

  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 1/2 packet baking powder
  • 1/3 cup orange juice
  • vanilla
  • orange zest
  • lemon zest
  • 2 apples
  • 1/2 lemon
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons vegetable margarine
  • ground cinnamon

  • Dough preparation:

    In a bowl, add the flour, sugar, baking powder, vanilla, orange zest, lemon zest, oil, and orange juice.

  • Mix and knead until you get a smooth dough. Wrap it in plastic wrap and place it in the fridge for about 30 minutes.

    Filling preparation:

    Clean and slice the apples.

  • In a pan, put the margarine, apples, sugar, and lemon juice, and cook for about 10 minutes.

  • Add a bit of cinnamon and let it cool.

    Sprinkle some flour and roll out the dough. Use round cutters (cookie cutters) to cut out circles. Remove excess dough.

  • Place some apples on one half of each circle and fold them in half. Arrange them on a baking dish leaving some space between each. Bake at 350°F for 20/25 minutes.
