Ingredients for Oriental Spiced Rice

  • 1 1/4 cups Basmati rice
  • 7 oz green beans
  • 1 green bell pepper (bull's horn)
  • 9 oz turkey breast
  • 3.5 oz cooked ham (in a single slice)
  • 1.4 oz fresh ginger
  • 1 pinch cardamom (powdered)
  • 1 leaf bay leaf
  • 3 tbsps sesame oil
  • 2 cups vegetable broth
  • to taste soy sauce

Preparation of Oriental Spiced Rice

  • To prepare oriental spiced rice, put the vegetable broth in a pot with a bay leaf and add the rice while cold. Bring to a boil and cook for 5 minutes, then turn off the heat, cover the pot with a lid, and let it rest for 12 minutes. After this time, remove the bay leaf, stir the rice and set it aside.

Meanwhile, in another pot, boil the green beans, already washed and trimmed, in plenty of salted water, putting them in at the boil and draining them when they are tender.

In a large pan (or even better, in a wok) brown the turkey breast cut into cubes in the sesame oil, season with powdered cardamom, and remove from the pan.

In the same pan, brown the peeled and sliced fresh ginger, the bell pepper cut into cubes, and the ham diced. Sauté for a few moments then add the boiled green beans cut into pieces and the already browned turkey breast. Season for a minute then add the rice and a couple of tablespoons of soy sauce.

Let it flavor by mixing well and serve hot, adding more soy sauce if desired.
