Ingredients

  • 2 cups cups dry lentils
  • 2 tbsps tbsps butter
  • 1.75 oz oz pork bacon
  • 1/2 onion
  • 1 carrot (medium)
  • 1 leaf bay leaf
  • 1.25 cups cups tomato puree
  • 3.5 cups cups vegetable broth
  • to taste salt
  • to taste pepper
  • 1 stalk celery

Preparation

  • First, you need to soak the lentils in cold water for 12 hours and then drain them;

    Melt the butter in the pot and add celery, carrot, onion, then the bacon. Stir;

    Add the lentils, stir and let them absorb the flavors;

    Add the bay leaf, tomato puree, and broth. Salt and pepper to taste;

    Stir and close the lid tightly;

    Increase the heat;

    When the pot whistles, lower the heat and cook for 20 minutes;

    The lentils are ready.

Leftover lentils can be stored in the fridge for 3 days.
