Steps for the Haunted Halloween Pizza
To prepare the haunted Halloween pizza, start by cutting the mushrooms in half.
Use the straw to make two holes at the top of the mushrooms: these will be the eyes.
Use a sharp knife to make an X below the eyes: this is the nose.
Still with the knife, make a horizontal incision and
then vertical incisions, this is the mouth.
The result will be a skull.
Now move on to assembling the pizza: spread 2 tablespoons of tomato sauce, already seasoned with salt and extra virgin olive oil, on the pizza base.
Add the mozzarella and
finally 10 mushrooms on the pizza.
Bake in a preheated oven at 392°F (200°C) for 15-20 minutes and serve while still hot.
The pizza can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days, sealed in an airtight container. Reheat in the oven or air fryer to regain crispiness.
FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)
Can it be made without mozzarella?
Yes, you can replace mozzarella with vegan cheeses or grated salted ricotta for a different version.
How can I make it more ‘scary’?
Use sliced olives to create monstrous eyes, bell peppers to make mouths, or cheese cutouts shaped like ghosts.
Can I cook it in an air fryer?
Yes, if you have a large model! Cook at 392°F (200°C) for about 10-12 minutes, checking the browning of the base.
