Chocolate and hazelnut salami without eggs and butter. Would you believe me if I told you I found it even tastier than usual?
One of the most delicious traditional desserts that is always brought to the table on festive occasions, relying on ease of execution and particular aesthetic result.
Perfect at lunch or dinner time and being a dessert much appreciated by both adults and children, it will be gone in no time and easy to consume when sliced.
The preparation is embarrassingly easy so it is also suitable to be consumed at any time of the day. Once prepared, roll it in powdered sugar, and it will perfectly resemble a real salami!
The chocolate and hazelnut salami without eggs can be safely stored in the refrigerator for several days and served at snack time or even at the end of a meal.
Then let me say, it must have happened to everyone at least once to be surprised at home by a friend or family member dropping by without notice… and what do we do?
Panic sets in because, as luck would have it, the pantry is empty, the fridge too, the cake and cookie jar as well, so what do we offer with a good coffee.
Well… open the freezer and discover a world!
I recommend freezing the chocolate salami already sliced so it will be ready in an instant!!
Of course, if you don’t like hazelnuts, you can omit them or replace them with pistachios or chopped almonds.
It is impressive on tables even though it is quite simple, but it is really delicious, and children love this dessert.

Ingredients for Chocolate and Hazelnut Salami
- 10.5 oz cookies (or gluten-free or sugar-free diet cookies)
- 9.5 oz 70% dark chocolate (or lactose-free or 85% sugar-free)
- 1/4 cup oat milk (or plant-based milk or dairy milk)
- 2/3 cup toasted hazelnuts
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- as needed powdered sugar (for coating)
Tools
- Parchment Paper
- Aluminum Foil
- Bowl
- Food Scale
Steps for Chocolate Salami
First, melt the dark chocolate in a bain-marie.
(I used dark chocolate, but milk or white chocolate also works).
Meanwhile, roughly crumble the cookies.
(I usually use the bottom of a glass, but you can also do it on parchment paper with a rolling pin or in a freezer bag).
Set them aside.
In a large enough bowl, combine the melted chocolate, oil, hazelnuts (whole or slightly chopped to your liking), the plant-based beverage, and finally the crumbled cookies. Mix well.
Pour the mixture onto a sheet of parchment paper, giving it the typical elongated shape, and close it like a candy by shaping it with your hands.
Now wrap it for extra security with aluminum foil.
Place it in the fridge for at least 6 hours.
Take it out 5 minutes before serving, roll it in powdered sugar, slice it, and serve!
(I usually prepare it well in advance, even the night before so it solidifies well).
Enjoy your meal
Tips
If you like, you can also prepare the chocolate and hazelnut salami with white chocolate, if you like it, as many people do not like this type of chocolate and much prefer the dark chocolate.
Replace the milk amount with an equal amount of liquor to give your chocolate salami a stronger taste. You can choose between rum, brandy, or whiskey, the choice is yours! And why not a coffee or chocolate liqueur to enhance the flavor!
Store in the fridge. It can be frozen.
A tip I found useful is to prepare it the night before.

FAQ (Questions and Answers)
What cookies can I use?
Digestive, marie, plain cookies, gluten-free, or egg-free or light cookies.
What chocolate can I use?
A 55% dark chocolate is preferable, but it depends on taste. Honestly, for kids, it is better not to use extra dark as they might not eat it. However, if you have sugar concerns, use 85% chocolate.
