They are easy to prepare and can be customized with different seasonings that we will see later. Today, we will talk about the basic recipe for simple air fryer fries to enjoy as a snack with friends or as a side dish for main courses of meat or fish.

There are various tips to achieve appreciable results with the air fryer, one of which is not to overfill the cooking basket and remember to move the fries at least a couple of times. The size you cut the potato slices into is also very important, try to cut them all the same size and thickness.

  • Here’s how to cook crispy air fryer French fries: wash the potatoes, peel them, and then wash them again, thoroughly.

    Place the potatoes in a bowl full of cold water for about ten minutes.

  • Drain the potatoes and cut them into sticks, then place them back in water.

    Let the potatoes rest, immersed in water for at least 30 minutes, taking care to change the water at least 3 times during the time period.

    This way, you will remove the starch, resulting in crispier fries.

  • After the indicated time, drain the potato sticks and pat them dry with a clean cloth.

  • Put the potato sticks in a bowl and season them with extra virgin olive oil, mix well to coat all the potatoes with the oil.

  • Place the potatoes in the air fryer’s basket, ensuring they do not overlap too much, and cook at 392°F (200°C) for 15/20 minutes, stirring them halfway through cooking.

    During cooking, shake them a couple of times to even out the cooking.
    Check that the inside is soft and fully cooked and that the surface is nicely golden, otherwise continue for a few more minutes.
