Ingredients for Bread Roll Cannoli Pizza Style
- 4 slices sandwich bread
- 4.2 oz tomato pulp
- 4.2 oz scamorza cheese
- 2 tbsps extra virgin olive oil
- 2 slices cooked ham
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 pinch pepper
- to taste oregano
- to taste breadcrumbs
- 1 egg

Preparation of Bread Roll Cannoli Pizza Style
If using sandwich bread for this recipe, remove the crust by cutting it with a knife, while if using flatbread, there’s no need as it has none, but you’ll need to cut the long slice into two squares.
Cut the scamorza cheese into cubes or strips, as preferred. I used smoked scamorza, but any other type of string cheese can be used.
The cheese to be used must be dry, so it’s not advisable to use mozzarella, as it would release liquid and overly soak the bread.
In a bowl, place the tomato pulp. Add the ham, cut into small pieces, and season with salt, pepper, oregano, and extra virgin olive oil. Mix all the ingredients well and set aside.
Flatten the slices of sandwich bread with the rolling pin and place the filling diagonally on top. Now take the side corners of the bread, overlap them and press them to keep them attached.
To prevent the cannoli from opening, secure them with toothpicks. Meanwhile, crack an egg, place it in a plate, and beat it with the fork. On another plate, put the breadcrumbs.
Roll the sandwich bread rolls in the beaten egg and then in the breadcrumbs. Place them one by one on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Bake for 15 minutes at 375°F in a preheated oven.
Naturally, times and temperatures are indicative. Since these are not professional ovens, the temperatures may not be the same.
Once the bread roll cannoli are ready, take them out of the oven and consume them hot or warm. They can be prepared in advance and heated for a few minutes when ready to be eaten.
