Ingredients for the Upside Down Apple Cake

  • 3 apples
  • 4 oz oz butter
  • 2 1/4 cups cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup cups sugar
  • as needed cinnamon stick
  • 1 packet baking powder
  • 1 tbsp sugar (for the apples)

What You Need for the Upside Down Apple Cake

  • 1 Bowl
  • 1 Mixer
  • 1 Baking pan
  • Parchment paper

Procedure for the Upside Down Apple Cake

  • Let’s prepare the Upside Down Apple Cake together. First of all, melt the butter.

  • To do this, you can place it in a small bowl and heat it in the microwave for a few seconds, or place a small pot with some water on the stove, insert the bowl with the butter, and let it melt in a double boiler.

  • Once the butter has completely melted, remove the bowl from the water and let it cool. Meanwhile, peel the apples, slice them, and place them in a covered plate. If desired, you can add some lemon juice to prevent them from browning.

  • In a large bowl, place the cracked eggs and sugar, and beat with the whisk until they become a soft and frothy cream.

  • Also add the melted and cooled butter. Gradually add the sifted flour and baking powder, integrating them with a whisk.

  • Line a 9-inch baking pan with parchment paper. Sprinkle 1.5 tablespoons of sugar and some cinnamon on the bottom.

  • Arrange 1 and a half apples on the bottom of the pan and pour over half of the batter. Create another layer of apples, add more cinnamon, and finish with the remaining mixture, leveling it well.

  • Bake in a preheated oven at 392°F for about 40 minutes or until the cake is cooked.

  • Remove the cake from the oven and wait for it to cool, then invert it onto a serving plate and carefully remove the paper.
