Here’s a delicious idea to prepare during the Christmas holidays: the Christmas Tree Puff Pastry and Nutella®, an easy and quick dessert that is ready in just 10 minutes and with only 3 ingredients, the puff pastry, Nutella, and an egg yolk. A scenic and fun dessert, indeed, it consists of two sheets of puff pastry, joined together with Nutella, then cut into a Christmas tree shape with many twisted branches ready to be plucked and enjoyed! You can decorate the tree as you like, with colorful balls, chocolate sprinkles, or with chopped hazelnuts or almonds, and bake in the oven for twenty minutes until golden brown, simply delicious.
Use rectangular puff pastry and once you have cut and twisted the branches, to prevent some Nutella from leaking out during baking, put the tray in the freezer for about ten minutes, with this little trick the Christmas Tree Puff Pastry and Nutella® will be perfect to be served at the table as a dessert or as a Christmas snack for adults and children.
Let’s discover this wonderful delight, and let me know if you liked it!

Ingredients for Christmas Tree Puff Pastry and Nutella®
- 2 sheets puff pastry
- as needed Nutella® (about 2 heaping tablespoons)
- 1 egg yolk
Preparing the Christmas Tree Puff Pastry and Nutella®
I soften the Nutella by submerging the jar halfway in a bain-marie of hot water. I unroll one pastry sheet and place it with its parchment paper on the tray, spreading the Nutella with a spoon. I unroll the other pastry sheet and carefully lay it on top of the one with Nutella.
Using a knife, I cut out the tree base and a triangle, making incisions for the branches at the ends.
I twist the branches on themselves, and with the leftover scraps, I make small stars; one served as a decoration for the tree, and mini croissants, much appreciated by my son and husband.
I place the tray in the freezer for about ten minutes, then brush the tree with a beaten egg yolk and bake in a static oven for about 20 minutes at 356°F until golden brown. I remove it from the oven, let it cool a bit, and then taste!
Advice
If you want to decorate with Smarties or chocolate sprinkles, do it only after baking; otherwise, they will melt and look unappealing!
You can also prepare it a couple of days in advance and store it in the refrigerator, then bake and enjoy it freshly made.
