- 4 eggs (medium size)
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/3 cup sunflower oil
- 1 packet baking powder
- 1 lemon zest (untreated and grated)
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 1/4 cups powdered sugar
- 3 tablespoons lemon juice
You will need:
- Bowl
- Electric Whisk
- Rack
- Spatula
Prepare the Glazed Sweet Taralli: Traditional Recipe
In a large bowl, beat the eggs with the sugar using an electric whisk until you get a light and frothy mixture.
Add the sunflower oil slowly and continue to mix. Stir in the grated lemon zest and a pinch of salt. Gradually incorporate the sifted flour with the baking powder and mix until you get a smooth and homogeneous dough.
Take small portions of dough, create cords, close them and form the tarallo. Place the taralli on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake in a static oven at 356°F for about 20/25 minutes until golden brown. Once cooked, remove them from the oven and let them cool completely. In the meantime, prepare the glaze. In a bowl, mix the powdered sugar with the lemon juice until you get a nice smooth glaze. Dip the taralli using tongs and place them on a rack to dry well.
