Soft Apple and Hazelnut Ring Cake

in

The soft ring cake is one of those cakes I often make for breakfast and, I must say, my family always loves it. In this version I added chopped hazelnuts and an apple on top to make it even more fragrant and wholesome.
It’s the classic old-fashioned ring cake recipe — while it bakes it fills the house with an irresistible aroma and takes you back to the best childhood memories. The apple on top becomes soft and slightly caramelized during baking, making the cake even more tempting.
The result is a truly homemade rustic cake: soft, tall and perfect to enjoy at breakfast or tea time, one of those cakes that comforts you and makes you feel at home.
If you love simple, wholesome desserts like this, try also my soft plumcake and the jam tart, two great classics I make often.
Alright, here’s my recipe for the soft ring cake… absolutely a must-make!
