Ingredients for super easy tiramisu truffles
- 8.8 oz mascarpone
- 7 tbsps powdered sugar
- 4.2 oz ladyfingers
- 1.5 tbsps coffee
- to taste bitter cocoa powder
Tools
- Bowl
- Baking cups
- Spatula
Prepare the super easy tiramisu truffles
In a food processor, I grind the ladyfingers into a fine flour and set them aside.
In a bowl, I mix the mascarpone with the powdered sugar using a spatula until I get a creamy mixture. I add the coffee and the ground ladyfingers, then mix everything well with the spatula until I get a thick and homogeneous dough.
I cover the bowl with a silicone food cover or plastic wrap and put it in the freezer for about 15 minutes, just enough time to slightly firm the dough.
I take the bowl out and, with a spoon, I take some of the dough. I roll it between my hands to form small balls, roll them in the bitter cocoa powder, and place them in the baking cups.
I let the tiramisu truffles cool in the refrigerator until ready to serve.
They are truly very delicious.
Storage and useful tips
The tiramisu truffles can be stored in the refrigerator for 2–3 days, in an airtight container. I recommend keeping them well covered to preserve their softness and the coffee aroma.
You can prepare them in advance and let them firm up in the fridge until ready to serve: they will be even better. If you prefer, you can also freeze them already formed and take them out of the freezer about 30 minutes before enjoying them.
For a different variation, you can roll them in shredded coconut or grated dark chocolate instead of bitter cocoa powder.
If serving them in summer, serve them very cold: the creamy effect is irresistible.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I prepare the tiramisu truffles in advance?
Yes, in fact, it’s recommended. Made a few hours before and left in the fridge, they become even more compact and tasty.
Can I use decaffeinated coffee?
Of course, you can easily use decaffeinated coffee, especially if the truffles are also intended for children.
Is it possible to substitute mascarpone?
Mascarpone is essential for the creaminess. Alternatively, you can use a light mascarpone cream, but the texture will change slightly.
