Homemade Hazelnut Spread

Homemade hazelnut spread, as good as the three-ingredient Nutella though!
Almost Nutella, but homemade with real hazelnuts and no added sugars. For a long time I have been looking for a good palm-oil-free alternative to the famous hazelnut spread that we Italians and many others adore. So, after making the Peanut and chocolate spread or the Pistachio spread, I dedicated myself to the homemade chocolate and hazelnut spread, tastier and healthier than industrial hazelnut cream and with lots of real hazelnuts. And while it’s true that Nutella is inimitable, it’s also true that good alternatives can be found — perfect to spread on homemade bread and ideal for breakfast and snacks, but without palm oil, hydrogenated fats and excessive sugar. I have to say my children really enjoy this three-ingredient hazelnut spread and I often make it instead of the “famous jar.” The homemade spread has a rich flavor, not too sweet, and the hazelnuts really come through — I recommend choosing high-quality hazelnuts and equally good chocolate. Let’s go to the kitchen now and prepare together this cream that reminds us of homemade Nutella, but as always, first I remind you that if you want to stay updated on all my other recipes you can follow my Facebook page and my Instagram profile.

Take a look:

  • Difficulty: Easy
  • Cost: Economical
  • Preparation time: 15 Minutes
  • Portions: about 14 oz
  • Cuisine: Italian

Ingredients

  • 3.5 oz White chocolate (of good quality)
  • 3.5 oz Dark chocolate (at least 50%)
  • 3.5 oz Hazelnut paste (of excellent quality)

Tools

  • Pot

Preparation

  • The first ingredient you will need for this recipe is the hazelnut paste; for its preparation I refer you to the recipe.

  • Once you have the hazelnut base, melt the two chocolates in a bain-marie or in the microwave at 750W for 1 to 2 minutes, stirring every 20 seconds. Combine the melted chocolate with the hazelnut base and mix.

Store the spread at room temperature for up to a couple of weeks; in winter it may tend to firm up a bit, while in summer it will remain more fluid.
