How to prepare tiramisù in the Easter egg
Whip the cold cream straight from the fridge — it shouldn’t be too stiff but soft — add the mascarpone and the pistachio spread and continue mixing with the whisk until you obtain a mousse.
Spread a little pistachio cream on a plate and place the half egg on it; this will help keep it steady.
Spoon some of the pistachio mousse into the egg and alternate it with savoiardi (mine were giant savoiardi) soaked in a mix of water and coffee.
Between layers, sprinkle some ground pistachios.
Once the egg is filled, finish the top layer by piping the mousse with a piping bag, then decorate with more ground pistachios and milk chocolate eggs.
The dessert is ready; if you have the time, I recommend chilling it in the refrigerator for at least a couple of hours before serving.
To make the dessert you can buy an egg or make one at home as I did, using this mold: egg mold
Storage notes and tips:
The eggless pistachio tiramisù inside the Easter egg should be stored in the refrigerator, covered with cling film or inside an airtight container to prevent the chocolate from absorbing odors.
It keeps perfectly for about 2 days, maintaining the pistachio cream firm and the savoiardi soft.
Freezing is not recommended, because as a no-bake Easter dessert the tiramisù’s texture could be altered and the chocolate egg could form condensation once thawed. To get a perfect stuffed Easter egg it is important to use savoiardi only slightly soaked in coffee so they do not release too much moisture inside the chocolate shell.
The eggless pistachio tiramisù is more stable if left to rest in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving, so the cream can firm up and the dessert inside the chocolate egg will be easier to slice. To creatively recycle Easter eggs you can use either milk, dark, or white chocolate eggs, adjusting the sweetness of the eggless pistachio tiramisù according to the type of chocolate chosen.
