Are you looking for a quick and easy way to use those overripe bananas that are at risk of going to waste? Now that summer is coming, the strawberry and banana smoothie is a perfect choice to turn overly ripe bananas into a fresh, light, and healthy snack. Depending on your tastes and dietary needs, you can choose whether or not to sweeten the smoothie: for instance, I used half a teaspoon of maple syrup, but I could also have omitted it because the banana is already naturally sweet. Likewise, you can opt for whole yogurt or low-fat yogurt if you want an even lighter version. Ready in just a few minutes by only dirtying a blender, the strawberry and banana smoothie is a delicious and refreshing drink, just what you need to curb your hunger and tackle hot summer days!

To prepare the strawberry and banana smoothie, start by peeling the banana. Remove any dark parts and slice it.
Wash and dry the strawberries, remove the stem, and cut them into pieces.
Place in a blender – a traditional blender or a mixer – the bananas, strawberries, and yogurt. Add the maple syrup if you want.
Blend for about a minute until you get a smooth, homogeneous mixture.
Serve the strawberry and banana smoothie immediately. With these quantities, you’ll get about 9.88 oz of smoothie, enough for one or two people.
Storage
You can store the strawberry and banana smoothie in the refrigerator for a couple of days, but the best way to preserve the vitamins in the strawberries is to consume it freshly made.
Tips and Variations
Instead of strawberries, you can use your favorite seasonal fresh fruit: peaches, apricots, blueberries, raspberries, melon… if you wish, you can enhance the smoothie flavor by using yogurt flavored with the chosen fruit.
