Usually when I crave something sweet, I always check if I have some apples and today I decided to prepare some Apple and Jam Squares to serve at tomorrow’s breakfast table. My guests will love it. It’s a very easy dessert to make with just a few simple steps, you’ll get a stunning dessert and it keeps well under a glass dome for several days.

Ingredients for Apple and Jam Squares
- 14 oz apples
- 2 eggs
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 2/3 cups all-purpose flour
- 6 tbsp butter
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 lemon zest (grated)
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 packet baking powder
- 3 tbsp jam
Steps for Apple and Jam Squares
Once all the ingredients are ready, take a few spoonfuls of jam and put them in a saucepan with a tablespoon of water, leave it on the heat until the jam becomes liquid. Turn off and set aside. Peel the apples and cut them into slices, pour lemon juice over them to prevent browning. Set aside and prepare the batter.
Melt the butter in the microwave. In a bowl, crack the eggs and add a pinch of salt, beat them very well with an electric mixer.
Now add the sugar and continue to beat the eggs until you get a light and fluffy mixture.
Pour in the milk, mix with the mixer at medium speed, and then also add the melted butter, now cooled.
Then add the sifted all-purpose flour and baking powder, grated lemon zest, and continue to beat with the mixer.
Line a rectangular baking tray 8×12 inches with parchment paper, then pour the batter inside, level it well, then place the apples side by side until the entire batter is covered.
Take the jam and spread it over the apples with a brush, then bake at 340°F and cook for about 35/40 minutes. Always adjust to your oven.
Once the time has passed, remove the cake from the oven, let it cool completely, and then cut it into squares.
