Ingredients for Orange Jelly
- 4 1/4 cups orange juice (squeezed from fresh fruit, strained)
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 3/4 cup cornstarch (cornflour)
Tools for Orange Jelly
- Lemon Squeezer
- Strainer
Steps for Orange Jelly
Squeeze the oranges with a juicer, strain the obtained liquid through a fine mesh strainer to get clear juice without pulp.
In a saucepan, pour the orange juice, add the sugar, set it on the heat, and warm until completely dissolved, stirring with a whisk.
Place the cornstarch in a cup, take a couple of ladles of juice, and pour it slowly into the bowl, stirring to dissolve the starch without forming lumps. Once dissolved, pour it into the pot and continue stirring until the cream starts to thicken. Turn off the heat and let it cool for a few minutes.
Once warm, take glasses or bowls and pour the cream; you can also pour it into silicone molds. Remember that if you use these, after the resting time in the fridge, you will need to gently remove them from the molds.
Cover the bowls with plastic wrap and let them rest in the fridge for 4/5 hours before serving. Decorate as you like. Sicilian orange jelly keeps in the fridge for 2 or 3 days.
