Broccoli Sauce

Broccoli sauce is an easy sauce to prepare, perfect for dressing or filling pasta, with few ingredients and few steps for a truly delicious result. If you leave larger pieces, you can also top some bread crostini.

  • 10.5 oz broccoli
  • 1 onion
  • 0.42 cups lactose-free cooking cream
  • as needed extra virgin olive oil
  • as needed salt
  • 1 pinch chili pepper
  • as needed water

Preparation of Broccoli Sauce

  • Let’s see how to prepare the sauce.

    First, you need to clean the broccoli and wash them well, cut them into small pieces including the stems. Finely chop the onion, put a drizzle of oil in a pan, add the chopped onion and sauté a bit, then add the broccoli and sauté for  about 1 minute together with the onion, after which add a little water, season with salt and add a pinch of chili pepper, if you don’t like it you can also omit it, stir and continue cooking with a lid over low heat. When the broccoli is cooked, mash it with a fork, we like it like this with some larger pieces, but you can also blend it with an immersion blender, then pour the vegetable cream into the pan with the broccoli and cook for another 1 minute, stirring well. If you are dressing the pasta right away, pour it directly into the pan, tossing for 2/3 minutes.

The quantity is for 4 people, but if you use less, you can put it in a container and store it in the refrigerator for 2/3 days, or you can also freeze it.

Can I use regular cream or a cheese?

  • Of course, you can use regular cream or even a spreadable cheese, with vegetable cream it remains a more delicate but exquisite sauce.
