- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup butter at room temperature
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp baking powder (Level)
- 1 orange zest
- as needed 70% dark chocolate
- as needed colorful sprinkles (Chocolate)

Preparation of Christmas Reindeer Shortbread Cookies
Let’s see how to prepare the reindeer cookies.
In a bowl, put the flour, butter cut into pieces and at room temperature, baking powder, sugar, the yolk, and the grated zest of one orange. Start kneading with your hands until you get a compact, smooth, and homogeneous dough, cover it with plastic wrap and let it rest in the fridge for 30 minutes. After the time has passed, remove from the refrigerator, and after 10 minutes roll out the dough with a rolling pin to about 1/4 inch thick. Cut the dough with cookie cutters or alternatively with a round glass, and place the cookies on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. In a small bowl, put the remaining egg white with a teaspoon of sugar and brush the cookies. Bake in a preheated oven and cook at 356°F for about 10-15 minutes, they should be slightly golden. Once cooked, let them cool.
Melt the dark chocolate in a bain-marie, and once melted, put it in a small piping bag or a syringe for pastry decorations. Create the reindeer antlers, eyes, and place a drop of chocolate in the center with a smarties on top so it sticks… your reindeer cookies are ready.
Notes
The Christmas Reindeer Shortbread Cookies can be stored for up to 7-8 days in a closed container. They are a great gift idea; you can create well-packaged bags with a bow or find Christmas boxes.
