- 7 oz Butter
- 1/3 cup Sugar
- 1 Egg yolk
- 1 pinch Salt
- 1 teaspoon Baking powder

Easy Shortcrust Pastry Preparation
In a bowl, pour the flour and butter at room temperature, cut into pieces, start kneading, when the butter starts to blend with the flour add the sugar and the egg yolk, mix well. Transfer the shortcrust pastry to a pastry board and continue kneading, just until a smooth and homogeneous dough is formed, wrap it in cling film and let it rest in the fridge for at least 30 minutes. After the time has passed, take the shortcrust pastry and use it for various recipes, place it on a floured pastry board and roll it out first with your hands to warm it up a bit, then help yourself with the rolling pin. Your shortcrust pastry is now ready.
Notes
The shortcrust pastry is versatile, you can make it with cocoa or gluten-free. You can flavor it as you like, with vanillin, or vanilla pods, with lemon or orange zest or with various spices like cinnamon. For a more crumbly and soft pastry, I add a teaspoon of baking powder, but you can also omit it.
