Ingredients for Romantic Heart-Shaped Sweet Cookies
- 2 cups All-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup Sugar
- 1 Egg
- 1 Teaspoon of baking powder
- 1/2 cup Butter
- Zest of 1 lemon
- as needed Strawberry jam

Preparation
Let’s see how to prepare the romantic sweet cookies.
In a bowl, pour the flour, room temperature butter cut into pieces, baking powder, sugar, and yolks, and begin kneading with your hands until you get a smooth and homogeneous dough, let it rest in the refrigerator for 30 minutes, wrapped with food wrap.
After the time has passed, take the dough and roll it out on a board with a rolling pin to about half a centimeter thickness. Take a small bowl and mix the water with sugar. Cut the dough with cookie cutters, on half of the cookies cut the central part with a smaller cutter and place them on a baking tray lined with parchment paper, on the cookies where you removed the central part, brush with the sugar water. Bake in a preheated oven at 356°F for about 10 minutes; they should be a little golden. Fill with jam and cover with the cut-out cookie.
Notes
They keep for up to 4/5 days, you can also dust with powdered sugar. It is advisable to use red jam such as strawberry or cherry for Valentine’s Day or Mother’s Day; for other occasions, you can instead fill with any jam or hazelnut cream.
