Chocolate Pinecones

Chocolate pinecones are very delicious, soft no-bake desserts. They are eye-catching and can be made with a few ingredients that you can easily find at home. We will need some plain cookies; I used chocolate ones, but you can also use regular ones, butter, milk, unsweetened cocoa powder, and boat-shaped breakfast cereals. These sweet pinecones are perfect especially for the Christmas holidays but not only, you can enjoy them anytime! However, it will take some time to prepare, as you’ll need to fit all the cereals into the shape to recreate the pinecone scales. If you want more scenic recipes for Christmas, you can also try:

Ingredients for making chocolate pinecones

  • 7 oz chocolate cookies
  • 1.5 tbsp butter
  • 6 tbsp whole milk
  • 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder

Tools

  • Mixer
  • Wooden spoon

Steps to make chocolate pinecones

  • To make chocolate pinecones, first put the chocolate cookies in a mixer and finely grind them. I chose chocolate ones, but you can use regular ones too. Melt the butter in the microwave or in a small pan. Then, pour the ground cookies, butter, milk, and unsweetened cocoa powder into a bowl and mix with a wooden spoon. The mixture should be neither too soft nor too hard, but workable.

  • Now take the dough and work it with your hands, creating cones with a wider base and a narrower tip. Let them set in the fridge for about twenty minutes. After the resting time, take your shapes and start inserting the boat-shaped cereals one by one, which will simulate the scales of real pinecones. Once finished, put your chocolate pinecones back in the fridge for about 1 hour.

  • Your chocolate pinecones are ready. Serve them with a sprinkle of powdered sugar if you like. Delicious and very beautiful!

Storage and tips

If the mixture seems too soft, add more cocoa powder. If it is too hard, gradually add more milk.

Instead of chocolate cookies, you can opt for plain dry cookies.

You can store the pinecones in the fridge for up to 2 days.
