Honey Braided Cookies

Honey braided cookies are wholesome, soft, and fragrant treats. I made these cookies for Easter, a holiday full of traditions and colors, and among the many recipes that embellish our tables, I couldn’t resist making these delicious braided cookies. Every family and region has their secret recipe, a dough that tells their story and ancient customs.

The dough for these cookies is simple, made with wholesome ingredients such as eggs, flour, seed oil, honey, orange peel, and lemon zest. If you prefer, you can add vanilla or other flavors. Once baked, just decorate them with colorful sprinkles or add a hard-boiled egg in the center.

Perfect for decorating the table on Easter day and for enjoying with family. These cookies will bring a touch of joy on this special day!

Ingredients for making honey braided cookies

  • 1 egg
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 2.1 oz sugar
  • 3.2 oz vegetable oil
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1.4 oz honey
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1 pinch salt
  • orange peel
  • lemon zest

Steps for honey braided cookies

  • In a large bowl, place the eggs, sugar, honey, and vegetable oil.

  • Add grated orange and lemon zest, which will give the cookies an irresistible aroma. Add the salt, all the flour, and the baking powder. Work the mixture with your hands until you get a soft and homogeneous dough.

  • The dough does not need to rest. So let’s prepare our cookies. Take two pieces of dough and form cords about 6 inches long. Braid them together and close them into a ring. Place the cookies on a baking tray lined with parchment paper, well spaced apart. Sprinkle with granulated sugar and bake at 338°F for 15 minutes until they are golden brown.

    Remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool completely. Brush each cookie with honey and decorate with colored sprinkles.

  • Continue in this way with all the cookies.Now you just have to taste them immediately!

If the dough is too dry, add 10g of vegetable oil.

These cookies can be stored for several days in an airtight container.
