Are you looking for a Christmas holiday dessert that is low effort but super spectacular and original? The phyllo triangles are just what you need! They are prepared in just a few minutes and will make a great impression because they are a real temptation with every bite! The crunchiness of the shell envelops a soft and delicious filling, with a double consistency: the slightly tart mandarin jam, combined with the creamy mascarpone and yogurt! All embellished with sweet and precious aromatic beads from the poppy seeds! My choice of jams and preserves, due to an obvious territorial preference, is entrusted to some Sicilian companies that specialize in excellent products and raw materials. Given the quality, the result was truly excellent! Here at home, they were devoured in no time as desserts after meals accompanied by a coffee or a good digestif. Moreover, with phyllo pastry, you can really get creative and make a countless number of variations to experiment with!

- 3 sheets Phyllo pastry
- 1.4 oz Mandarin jam
- 1.4 oz almond cream
- 4.2 oz mascarpone
- 0.7 oz powdered sugar
- 1.8 oz Greek yogurt
- as needed extra virgin olive oil (for brushing)
- as needed poppy seeds
Tools
- 1 Knife
- 1 Brush
- 1 Teaspoon
- 1 Bowl
- 1 Hand whisk
- 1 Baking tray
- 1 Parchment paper
Preparation
Take 3 sheets of phyllo pastry and with the help of a cutter, divide them in half lengthwise, then divide each half into two more, obtaining 4 rectangles of about 9×3.5 inches for a total of 12 rectangles (fig. 1).
Lightly brush all the edges of each rectangle with a little water (fig. 2).
In a bowl, mix the mascarpone with the sifted powdered sugar and yogurt. Then, place a teaspoon of cream on the right side of the pastry, leaving half a centimeter of space from the edge. Add a portion of almond cream (fig. 3).
Start folding by bringing the left corner to the right edge of the strip to form a triangle, and pressing the edges well to make them adhere (fig. 4).
Continue folding the phyllo pastry by immediately bringing the right corner to touch the left edge of the strip (fig. 5).
Continue wrapping the entire strip, until you obtain a triangle (fig. 6).
Now repeat the operation with another sheet, replacing the almond cream with mandarin jam (fig. 7).
Instead, always leave a portion of mascarpone cream at the base of all and continue like this until you use up all the ingredients, alternating the flavors of the jams (fig. 8).
Brush the surface of the resulting triangles with a little oil and sprinkle with poppy seeds (fig. 9).
Place the phyllo triangles on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake in preheated static mode at 350°F for about 10 minutes (fig. 10).
Turn off and serve slightly warm.
If you wish, you can sprinkle with a little powdered sugar, they will be delicious!
And voilà…the sweet phyllo triangles with mascarpone cream are ready to be enjoyed!

Storage
👉 You can store the phyllo triangles in the fridge for a maximum of 1-2 days in suitable refrigeration containers. Once taken out of the fridge, you will only need to heat them in a well-preheated oven for a few minutes to make them crispy as freshly baked! I do not recommend using the microwave for this operation, as it would make them soggy.
Tips, notes, variations, and suggestions
🟣The versatility of this recipe allows for a thousand variations, so you can replace the almond cream with other spreads such as pistachio and the mandarin jam with orange or other types of jams of your choice to create many different flavors. This way, you will have more options to choose from and play with your guests’ tastes!
🟣For a lighter version, you can brush the phyllo pastry with plain water instead of extra virgin olive oil.
🟣Finally, instead of poppy seeds, you can garnish with sesame seeds, either white or black.
