APPLE CUSTARD TART a delicious and special apple dessert

Delicious and very tasty Apple Custard Tart. How good are tarts, from the classic Jam Tart to many delicious variations. The recipe I want to tell you about today features sweet apples used as a filling in a light and crumbly shortcrust pastry, both sliced and turned into a delicious Apple Custard. I prepared the Apple Butter, a simple and delicious apple compote made without sugar, named “butter” due to its creamy, butter-like consistency. For the shortcrust pastry, I used a classic version, but you can choose a Light Shortcrust Pastry without eggs and butter or a Hazelnut Shortcrust Pastry or a Yogurt Shortcrust Pastry. If you love tarts and can’t resist Apple Desserts, this is a recipe not to be missed. Let’s head to the kitchen and prepare a delicious Apple Tart together.

Ingredients for the Apple Tart

  • 1 egg (medium)
  • 2.8 oz sugar
  • 2.8 oz butter
  • 2.5 cups flour
  • 1/2 lemon zest (untreated)
  • 14 oz apples
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 pinches ground cinnamon
  • 2 apples
  • 4 tbsps brown sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

How to prepare the Apple Tart

  • Peel the apples, clean them, and cut them into cubes. Transfer the apples to a saucepan. Add the lemon juice, water, and cinnamon. Bring the saucepan to the heat and let the apples cook on very low heat for about an hour. Stir them often with a wooden spoon. At the end of cooking, reduce the apples to a puree using a hand blender. Let it cool.

  • You can prepare the shortcrust pastry by hand or with the help of a mixer. Mix the butter cut into small cubes with the flour and sugar. Add an egg and the grated zest of half a non-treated lemon. Mix and knead until you get a soft but not sticky dough. Form a dough ball, wrap it in plastic wrap, and let it rest in the fridge for at least 30 minutes.

  • Roll out the shortcrust pastry on a lightly floured work surface with the help of a rolling pin to form a large disk. Line a 9.5-inch diameter buttered pie pan with the shortcrust pastry, covering the base and the sides. Pour the apple custard, leveling it with a spatula. Peel the apples, clean them, and cut them into thin slices.

  • Arrange the apple slices over the entire surface, slightly overlapping them. Decorate with brown sugar and a sprinkle of ground cinnamon. Bake the Apple Custard Tart in the preheated static oven at 356°F for about 30 minutes.
