Ingredients for the Apricot Liqueur
- 1.1 lbs apricots
- 1.75 cups sugar
- 1.7 cups pure alcohol
- 2.1 cups water
- 2 cinnamon sticks
How to prepare homemade Apricot Liqueur
Wash the apricots. Remove any spoiled parts. Cut them into pieces. Keep 3 apricot pits and crush them with a meat mallet or nutcracker. Place the apricots in a large jar.
Add the crushed pits, the 2 cinnamon sticks, and the alcohol. Close the jar and shake it well. Store the jar in a dark place inside a cabinet. Let it rest for 20 days, shaking the jar once a day.
After the rest time, filter the alcohol, removing the apricots, cinnamon, and pits. Prepare a syrup: pour the water and sugar into a saucepan. Bring to a boil, allowing the sugar to dissolve completely. Turn off the heat and let it cool.
Mix the now-cold syrup with the flavored alcohol. Pour into a bottle and let the homemade Apricot Liqueur rest in a cool place for a week before enjoying. You can store it in the pantry, but it’s better in the fridge or freezer.
See you tomorrow with a new recipe, hugs, Loredana
Loredana’s Tips
The Apricot Liqueur keeps in the fridge for 6-8 months
For a less alcoholic liqueur, you can decrease the alcohol dose or increase the amount of water. You can also replace the alcohol with white grappa
