Tasty and flavorful baked gratinated salmon. Today I want to dispel a misconception I’ve noticed among many people who follow my Blog and recipes. It’s often believed that preparing fish at home requires special culinary skills, but I can assure you from my modest experience that it’s not like that at all. Just choose excellent raw materials and with a short cooking time, we can serve up a delicious fish main course. We can also choose for convenience to have our trusted fishmonger clean or fillet the fish for us or opt for fish already in steaks like the salmon steaks I prepared today. Simple and delicious salmon steaks covered with a tasty lemon-flavored breading that I baked. The result was a practically perfect fish dish that everyone at the table loved. I accompanied it with some grilled zucchini, but you can choose your favorite side dish, potatoes go great! So let’s run into the kitchen and prepare the Baked Salmon together.

Ingredients for Baked Gratinated Salmon
- 4 steaks salmon
- 1/3 cup breadcrumbs
- to taste extra virgin olive oil
- 1 clove garlic
- 1 lemon zest (untreated)
- 1 sprig parsley
- 1 pinch pepper
- to taste salt
How to Prepare the Baked Gratinated Salmon
To prepare this recipe, you can choose to use either salmon steaks or fillets. Wash them, pat them dry with paper towels, and try to remove any loose bones with your fingers using tweezers.
Mix the breadcrumbs in a bowl with the parsley, chopped garlic, and grated lemon zest. Add a pinch of salt and a pinch of pepper. Oil the salmon steaks on all sides and arrange them side by side in an oiled baking dish.
Spread the breadcrumb mixture over the surface, pressing lightly with the back of a spoon to adhere it to the fish. Drizzle with a little oil and bake the Salmon in the oven at 374°F (190°C) for about 18-20 minutes. Cooking times also depend on the size of the fish steaks you are using.

Loredana’s Tips
If there’s leftover salmon, store it in a container in the fridge for 1-2 days. You only need to reheat it for a few minutes in the oven or microwave.
If you prefer, you can omit the garlic clove and substitute parsley with thyme, oregano, or mixed herbs.
