Ingredients for Lemon Baked Red Mullet
- 1.5 lbs red mullet (medium)
- to taste extra virgin olive oil
- 1 lemon
- to taste salt
- 1 pinch pepper
- 1 sprig marjoram
How to prepare Baked Red Mullet
First, clean the red mullets. Open them along the belly and remove the entrails. Also remove the scales, which are abundant on red mullet. Rinse them under running water.
Wash the lemon. Squeeze half to obtain the juice. Cut the other half into slices. Arrange the red mullets side by side in an oiled baking dish. Add the lemon juice, a pinch of salt and a dash of pepper.
Place lemon slices on top of the red mullets. Finish with a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil. Bake the red mullet in a preheated conventional oven at 356°F for 16-18 minutes. At the end of cooking add a few sprigs of marjoram or parsley.
