Stuffed lasagna swirls are a tasty and flavorful first course. The recipe I want to tell you today is that of a stuffed Baked Pasta perfect for a festive day or simply to make an ordinary day special. For the pasta, I used fresh lasagna sheets that I filled, rolled, and cut to form the Pasta Swirls. I simply dressed the stuffed Pasta Roses with a tomato sauce, but a Meat Ragu or, for a white version, some béchamel would also be great. You can vary the filling according to your tastes and preferences, even simply in a vegetarian version with vegetables. I prepared the Pasta Roses for Sunday lunch but they are so easy to prepare that any occasion will be the right one to make them. Let’s run into the kitchen and prepare some delicious Baked Lasagna Swirls together

Ingredients for Baked Swirl Roses
- 6 lasagna sheets
- 4.2 oz cooked ham
- 7 oz scamorza cheese
- 8.8 oz ricotta
- 1.4 oz Grana Padano cheese, grated
- 1.5 cups tomato passata
- 1/2 onion
- 2 tbsps extra virgin olive oil
- to taste salt
How to prepare stuffed Pasta Swirls
First, prepare a tomato sauce. Pour 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil into a saucepan. Add half a thinly sliced onion and let it fry for a minute on low heat. Pour the tomato passata into the saucepan, adjust the salt, add half a glass of water, and let the sauce cook for 8-10 minutes on low heat. The sauce shouldn’t be too thick to allow the lasagna sheets to moisten and cook.
To prepare this dish, I used fresh thin lasagna sheets that do not require pre-cooking in water. Spread the sheets on the work surface. Distribute the ricotta on each sheet. Then add slices of cooked ham and slices of scamorza cheese or another soft, melting cheese.
Prepare all the sheets in the same way. Roll them from the shorter side and then cut each filled roll into 5 parts. Pour 3 tablespoons of tomato sauce on the bottom of a baking dish. Place the Pasta Swirls inside, side by side, with the cut facing up.
Pour the sauce over the Swirls, trying to let it go inside as well. Sprinkle with plenty of grated cheese and bake the Swirls in a preheated oven at 375°F in static mode for 18-20 minutes. In the last minutes of cooking, you can set the oven to grill for a delicious gratin.
See you tomorrow with a new recipe, a hug, Loredana
Loredana’s Tips
If there are leftover Swirls, store them in a container in the fridge for 2 days. You can also freeze them. Just reheat them for a few minutes in the oven or microwave
