Ingredients for Cabbage with Potatoes in a Pan
- 1.1 lbs cabbage
- 1.1 lbs potatoes
- 14 oz sausage (fresh pork)
- 1 onion (medium)
- 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- 1.4 oz Grana Padano cheese, grated
- to taste salt
- 1 pinch pepper
How to Prepare Cabbage, Potatoes, and Sausage
Peel the potatoes, wash them, and cut them into cubes. Pour the olive oil into a large pan. Add the onion in thin slices and the potatoes. Cook the potatoes over medium heat, stirring often with a wooden spoon for 10-12 minutes.
While the potatoes cook, prepare the other ingredients. Remove the most damaged outer leaves of the cabbage. Cut it into not too thin strips. Place the cabbage in a colander, wash it, and let it drain well. Cut the sausage into pieces. I used thick sausage, but you can also choose to use thin sausage.
Add the cabbage and sausage to the pan with the potatoes. Season with salt and pepper. Mix and cover the pan with a lid. This way, the cabbage will release its water for perfect cooking.
Turn often with a wooden spoon. After 7-8 minutes of cooking, remove the lid and let it cook for a few more minutes. At the end of cooking, sprinkle the preparation with grated cheese.
