CHRISTMAS SHORTCRUST WREATH the perfect Christmas tart

Christmas shortcrust wreath with raspberry jam. At Christmas, desserts are never enough, and besides the classic pandoro and panettone, I love to prepare many homemade desserts, traditional or not. The recipe I want to tell you about today is a Tart dressed up for the occasion. With a few simple steps, you can transform shortcrust pastry into 2 discs that I’ve decorated with raspberry jam, but you can also choose another flavor of jam or use Nutella. It’s perfect for holiday breakfasts but also as a dessert centerpiece, perhaps placing a candle in the center. I also recommend not missing the recipe for Neapolitan Mostaccioli and the recipe for Almond Nougat. Let’s head to the kitchen and prepare a delicious Christmas Shortcrust Wreath together

Ingredients for the Christmas Tart

  • 2 3/4 cups flour
  • 7 tbsp butter
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1/2 lemon zest (untreated)
  • 1 cup raspberry jam
  • as needed powdered sugar (for decoration)

How to prepare the Christmas Tart

  • You can prepare the shortcrust pastry by hand or with the help of a mixer. Mix the flour with the sugar and butter in small pieces. Add the whole egg, an egg yolk, and the grated zest of half an untreated lemon.

  • Knead well until you get a soft but not sticky dough. Form a block, wrap it in plastic wrap, and let it rest in the fridge for an hour or more.

  • Take the shortcrust pastry and divide it into 2 parts. Roll out each part on a floured surface, using a lid or a baking pan to cut out 2 discs of 9.5 inches in diameter. With a bowl, cup, or other, cut a disc inside to get the wreath shape.

  • Place the 2 discs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. With a star-shaped cutter, cut stars from one disc and then place them back on the disc as shown in the photo.

  • Bake in a static oven at 350°F for 22-24 minutes. Let the discs cool. Place the disc without stars on a serving plate. Spread raspberry jam or your favorite flavor over it. Cover with the other disc and decorate with powdered sugar.

See you tomorrow with a new recipe, a hug, Loredana
