EASTER SWEET BRAID The Recipe for Easter Breakfast

Easter Sweet Braid soft, fluffy and delicious. This morning I woke up with the desire to prepare a sweet leavened dough, and since Easter is approaching, my very soft Easter Braid was born. A soft dough simple to prepare and perfect alone or filled with whatever you like. My recipe is quite simple, I would say perfect even for those who are not very skilled in the kitchen. You can prepare the dough by hand or with the help of a mixer, then a little yeast and a long rise do the rest. The result is a perfect sweet braid for breakfast during the holidays, and if you like the sweet and savory combination, you can also pair it with cheese and cold cuts as is typical in some areas for Easter breakfast. I prepared it in advance to then gift you the recipe, and we ate it for breakfast spreading the slices with butter and jam. My Braid is simple but if you want to enrich it, you can add candied fruit cubes, small pieces of dark chocolate or raisins to the dough. Just imagine how delicious! Ingredients for the Brioche Braid

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 cup Manitoba flour
  • 1 egg
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 0.21 oz fresh yeast
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 4 tablespoons sugar pearls
  • as needed powdered sugar (for decorating)

How to Prepare the Easter Sweet Braid

  • You can prepare the dough by hand or with a mixer. Dissolve the fresh yeast in the lukewarm milk. Add the sugar and mix. Continue the preparation by adding an egg and gradually the all-purpose flour and the Manitoba flour. Also add the melted butter and a pinch of salt.

  • Knead well and for a long time until you have a soft, fluffy, and non-sticky dough. Transfer the dough to the work surface, stretch it with your hands, and make folds to give strength. Repeat this operation 3-4 times. Form a loaf and transfer it to a lightly floured bowl. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let the dough rise in a warm place for about 4 hours.

  • Take the risen dough and divide it into 3 more or less equal parts. Roll each portion of dough on the lightly floured work surface to form 3 rolls about 0.8 inches thick.

  • Braid the 3 strips together to form a braid. Transfer the Easter Braid to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and let it rise in a warm place for about 2 hours.

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F. Beat an egg yolk with 2 tablespoons of milk in a small bowl. Brush the risen braid with this mixture. Decorate with plenty of sugar pearls. Bake the Leavened Easter Sweet in the hot oven at 375°F in fan mode for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown. Let it cool and decorate as desired with powdered sugar.

See you tomorrow with a new recipe, a hug, Loredana

Loredana’s Tips

The sweet braid stays soft and fluffy in a container for 2-3 days. Just warm it for a few minutes in the oven or a few seconds in the microwave to make it soft and fragrant like freshly baked
