Ingredients for Fennel with Milk
- 3 fennel
- 1 glass milk
- 3 tbsps extra virgin olive oil
- 1.4 oz grated Parmesan cheese
- 1.4 oz breadcrumbs
- to taste salt
How to Prepare Oven-Baked Gratin Fennel
Clean the fennel by removing the outer leaves, stalks, and the harder base. Wash them and then cut them into thin slices. Pour 2-3 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil and the fennel into a pan. Let the fennel cook over medium heat for 5-6 minutes, stirring often with a wooden spoon.
When the fennel is slightly softened, season with salt and pour the milk over the fennel. Cover the pan with a lid and let the fennel cook over medium heat for about 15 minutes. Stir them occasionally. At the end of cooking, the milk will be almost completely absorbed.
Transfer the fennel to a baking dish in a thin layer. Sprinkle the surface with the grated cheese and breadcrumbs. Drizzle with some oil and let the fennel cook in a static oven at 375°F for 15-16 minutes. Place the baking dish in the central part of the oven and set the oven to grill for the last few minutes of cooking.
