How to make the Orange cake with jam

  • For this recipe, you need an untreated orange so that you can use both the juice and the zest. Thoroughly wash the orange, grate the zest, and squeeze it to extract the juice. For this recipe, you need about 3 oz of orange juice.

  • Beat 2 whole eggs with sugar using an electric mixer for 6-7 minutes until you get a light and fluffy mixture.

  • Add the vegetable oil, grated zest, and orange juice. Mix.

  • Sift in the flour and baking powder. Mix.

  • Pour the batter into a 20 cm (8 inch) diameter springform pan, either greased or lined with baking paper.

  • Transfer the orange jam into a piping bag with a wide round tip. Starting from the center, make a spiral of jam on the cake batter.

  • Decorate with sugar crystals. Bake the Orange cake with jam in a preheated static oven at 350°F for 35-40 minutes.

  • Always perform the “toothpick test” to check the doneness inside the cake. Let the Orange cake with jam cool before removing it from the pan and decorate as desired with powdered sugar.
