SOFT GRAIN BREAD ROLLS, soft, tender, and with a delightful rustic taste

Soft and delicious grain bread rolls. Sometimes I enjoy making bread at home! I confess that I am not a fanatic of leavened products, especially with the temperatures of this scorching summer. But I just cannot resist soft rolls, a pizza, or a soft focaccia, despite the heat these days. Here is my simple, foolproof recipe to make soft, tender, and delicious Grain Bread Rolls with a rustic flavor that wins you over from the first bite. These rolls are already delicious on their own, but they’re perfect for accompanying all your dishes, for both savory and sweet fillings. I shaped my rolls into a spiral, but you can prepare them in any shape you prefer. So let’s get our hands in the dough and make some Grain Bread Rolls!

Ingredients for Soft Grain Rolls

  • 3 1/4 cups grain flour
  • 2 tsp fresh yeast
  • 1 1/4 cups water (lukewarm)
  • 2 tbsps extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 3 tbsps mixed seeds
  • 2 tbsps extra virgin olive oil

How to Prepare Whole Grain Bread Spirals

  • You can prepare the whole grain rolls either by hand or with the help of a mixer. Dissolve the fresh yeast in the lukewarm water. Add a tablespoon of honey and mix. Gradually add the grain flour and mix. Finally, add the salt and extra virgin olive oil.

  • Knead well and for a long time until you have a soft, tender, and non-sticky dough. Transfer the dough onto your work surface, stretch, and fold it over itself several times to form the folds, which will strengthen the dough. Place the dough in a lightly floured bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for about 3 hours or more.

  • Now, it’s time to shape the Grain Bread Rolls. Divide the dough into 10-12 portions of roughly the same size. I rolled each portion on a lightly floured surface to form small rolls and then shaped them into spiral rolls by rolling them from the center. But if you prefer, you can simply form round or oval rolls, or any shape you like.

  • Place the rolls slightly apart as you prepare them on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Let them rise in a warm place for at least an hour. Brush the rolls with oil and decorate with mixed seeds.

  • Bake the Whole Grain Bread Spirals in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) on the fan setting for 23-24 minutes.
