Ingredients for the Savory Puff Pastry Tree
- 1 roll puff pastry (rectangular)
- 1/2 cup tomato sauce
- 9 oz scamorza cheese
- 4 oz cooked ham
- 1 teaspoon oregano
- to taste salt
What you need to prepare the Holiday Savory Pie
- Baking Tray
- Cookie Cutters
How to prepare the Christmas Savory Pie
Pour the tomato sauce into a small bowl, add a little salt and half a teaspoon of oregano. Mix. Roll out the rectangular puff pastry sheet on the work surface.
Spread most of the tomato sauce over the puff pastry, save a little aside for later brushing. Arrange the slices of scamorza or other soft cheese.
Finish with slices of cooked ham. Now, with the help of parchment paper, roll gently from the longer side to form a stuffed roll.
Slice into pieces about 1 inch wide. This way, with a classic roll of 15.75 inches in length, you will get 16 slices as I did. Arrange the puff pastry rolls on a rectangular tray lined with parchment paper.
Arrange 5 pinwheels at the base, then 4, 3, 2, and one at the top to simulate a Christmas Tree. Place the last puff pastry pinwheel at the base to simulate the trunk. Brush with the tomato sauce you set aside. Sprinkle a little oregano on top.
Bake the Savory Puff Pastry Tree in a preheated static oven at 375°F for 24-25 minutes. Finally, decorate with some cheese stars.
