VALENTINE’S DAY DOUGHNUTS the sweetest hearts to celebrate love

Valentine’s Day Doughnuts soft and delicious. There is very little time left until the most romantic holiday of the year, and I can’t help but share a delightful and sweet idea to celebrate with your loved one or simply with your family, because love always takes many different and special forms! Today I want to tell you how I prepared some delicious heart-shaped Doughnuts perfect for Valentine’s Day. The dough is that of Churros, the typical Spanish-origin fritters with a stick shape and covered in sugar. The dough is similar to that of choux pastry used for profiteroles, but today I wanted to give it a delicious heart shape that makes them special. Soft and tender Sweet Hearts to enjoy with your loved ones. The recipe is quite simple, the only challenge is giving the dough a heart shape. I used a pastry bag to form hearts on squares of parchment paper so they can be easily transferred to the pan with hot vegetable oil. The Hearts will surely each be unique, which is the beauty of a homemade dessert made with love! I also recommend not missing out on the recipe for the Shortcrust Pastry Hearts with Jam. So let’s head to the kitchen and prepare some delicious Heart Doughnuts

Ingredients for Churro Hearts

  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup cups water
  • 5 tbsp tbsps butter
  • 1 1/4 cups cups flour
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 1/4 cups cups vegetable oil
  • 3 tbsp tbsps sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

What you need to prepare Heart Fritters

  • Pastry bag

How to prepare Heart Doughnuts

  • Pour the water into a saucepan. Add a pinch of salt and the butter cut into small pieces.

  • Let the butter melt over low heat and bring the water to a boil. Add the flour all at once.

  • Stir with a wooden spoon until a compact dough forms that detaches from the sides of the saucepan. Let it cool.

  • Add an egg to the dough and mix well to incorporate it into the mixture. You should get a smooth and shiny dough that’s rather soft.

  • Cut squares of parchment paper. Transfer the dough into a pastry bag with a large star tip.

  • Now gently form hearts on each square of paper. Heat plenty of vegetable oil in a small, deep pan to cook a few at a time.

  • Transfer the heart with the parchment paper into the hot oil. After a few seconds, the dough will detach from the paper, which you can gently remove with kitchen tongs.

  • Let the fritters brown on both sides. Remove them with a slotted spoon and let them drain on paper towels.

  • Mix the granulated sugar with the cinnamon in a bowl. Pass the Heart Fritters in the sugar on all sides.
See you tomorrow with a new recipe, hugs, Loredana

Loredana’s Tips

These Doughnuts are best when freshly fried, like all fritters. If you don’t eat them right away, I recommend not coating them in sugar.

Baked in the oven, they will be less soft but still delicious
