Steps for making apple puff pastries
Let’s see together how to make these delicious apple puff pastries.
Unroll a sheet of puff pastry on a working surface.
Use a knife to divide the puff pastry
into 6 more or less equal parts. Place a tablespoon of orange jam in the center of each square. Spread it slightly, leaving the edges free.
Peel 2 apples and, using an apple corer, remove the central part of the apple,
Slice the apple and distribute 4-5 apple slices on the orange jam placed on each square.
Sprinkle the apples with brown sugar.
Sprinkle the apples also with chopped almonds as desired.
Fold the longer sides of the pastry over the apples.
Once done, also fold the shorter sides, trying to press on the corners to prevent them from opening.
Proceed the same way for all the pastries. Do not remove the pastries from the parchment paper found in the puff pastry package, as they might get damaged.
Brush the edges of the pastries with a little water or milk.
Finally, sprinkle again with granulated or brown sugar.
Preheat the oven to 356°F convection. Transfer the pastries onto a baking sheet. Slide the parchment paper directly onto the baking tray on which the pastries are placed. Bake the apple pastries for about 15-20 minutes. The cooking time depends on the oven.
When the pastries are golden brown, take them out of the oven and let them cool.
Storage and Variations
– Ideally, consume the apple and jam puff pastries as soon as they’re made or within a few hours. Only this way can you best savor the crunchiness and flakiness of the puff pastry. In any case, consume them within 24 hours.
– It’s also not advisable to freeze them, as puff pastry loses its characteristics once thawed.
– You can use any jam or preserve you prefer. To make them even tastier, you can replace the jam with a layer of Nutella.
– You can replace the almond chops with hazelnuts or pistachios. If you don’t like it, you can omit it.
