Storage, Variants, and Tips:
– As I mentioned, you can use ladyfingers for this recipe, but other types of cookies will work just as well.
– If you want to make the recipe lighter, you can replace mascarpone with the same amount of well-drained ricotta.
– For decoration, you can also use crushed pistachios or almonds, almond slices, sprinkles, or other crushed cookies.
– You can also use this recipe as a base for children’s desserts: in this case, replace the coffee with an equal amount of milk and cocoa and then proceed with the recipe… if you wish, once they are set, you can dip the truffles in melted chocolate and then let it cool and harden.
– How long and how should they be stored? Since it contains mascarpone (but this also applies if using ricotta), once prepared, the truffles should be kept in the refrigerator in a closed container and consumed within 2-3 days.
