The water and cocoa cake is a breakfast cake or snack that is really light, easy, and very delicious! If you like chocolate desserts and need a lactose-free dessert, this is just the recipe for you. It’s one of those cakes that you can prepare in a few minutes and that doesn’t require any special equipment: you just need a bowl and electric whisks and in a few minutes, it will be ready to bake! This dessert is a vegan water cake: in fact, no eggs or dairy products are used, making it perfect for lactose intolerant or milk allergic people.

It is made with few simple ingredients and little fat: excellent for your children’s snack or as a sweet treat if you are on a diet. It is a very soft cake with a crumb that is not dry at all. It is good eaten alone or dipped in the morning coffee with milk.

  • cup sunflower seed oil
  • cup sugar
  • 1 packet vanillin (or orange or lemon zest, cinnamon etc…)

Steps to prepare the water and cocoa cake

Let’s see together all the steps to prepare this delicious egg-free and milk-free cocoa cake. I’ll first put the traditional method and then the method to prepare the Bimby water and cocoa cake.

  • Let’s see together how to prepare this delicious vegan cocoa cake. Take a bowl and electric whisks. If you don’t have them, you can also use a hand whisk or a fork.

  • Place water at room temperature and oil in the bowl.

  • Emulsify for a few seconds.

  • Add sugar and vanillin (or other aroma) and mix with the whisks until the sugar is almost dissolved.

  • Add flour.

  • Blend to combine the ingredients.

  • Sift the cocoa into the bowl with a sieve.

  • Mix again with the electric whisks.

  • Add a pinch of salt and the sifted baking powder and blend again.

  • Flour and butter (or line with parchment paper) a 22 cm diameter pan.

  • Bake in a preheated static oven at 320°F for about 40 minutes. Always do the toothpick test before taking your cocoa water cake out of the oven.

    Pour the mixture into a 22 cm diameter pan and bake in a preheated static oven at 320°F for about 40 minutes.

    Do the toothpick test. Once ready, take it out of the oven, let it cool completely, and sprinkle with powdered sugar.

Storage and Tips

– The water and cocoa cake stays soft and fragrant even for several days if you keep it in a tightly closed container.

– If you want, you can also freeze it: cut it into slices or cubes, wrap each piece in a bit of plastic wrap, and put it in the freezer. When you want to enjoy it, just take it out some time in advance or defrost it for a few seconds in the microwave with the defrost function.

– With the same batter, you can also use a ring mold or make delicious muffins.
