Air fryer Camille are delicious carrot cakes, soft and fragrant, loved by both adults and children for their simple and genuine taste. Perfect for breakfast, a snack, or a moment of indulgence, Camille bring the authentic flavor of simplicity to the table.
If you don’t have an air fryer, you can use the classic oven version:
- Difficulty: Easy
- Cost: Cheap
- Preparation time: 15 Minutes
- Portions: 10 Pieces
- Cooking methods: Air Frying
- Cuisine: Italian
Ingredients
- 6 oz carrots (net weight)
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup almond flour
- 1/3 cup orange juice
- 1 grated orange zest (untreated)
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/3 cup sunflower oil
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- salt (a pinch)
- 3 drops orange flavoring
Tools
- Air Fryer
- Silicone Spatula
- Electric Mixer
- Aluminum Pans
Steps
To prepare the camille in the air fryer, wash the carrots, peel them, and slice them. Place the carrots inside a blender, add the sunflower oil and orange juice, and blend everything until you obtain a creamy mixture.
Next, crack the eggs (they must be at room temperature) into a bowl, add the sugar, and start beating at maximum speed with the electric whisks. When the mixture is light and fluffy, add the carrots you blended earlier, the grated orange zest, and orange flavoring, and continue mixing.
Sift the flour with the baking powder, add the almond flour (if you don’t have almond flour, you can grind whole almonds into a powder) and gradually add everything to the mixture while continuing to mix.
Take the aluminum molds, butter, and flour them, then fill them with 3/4 of the batter. Alternatively, you can line the aluminum molds with paper liners.
Place the molds in the basket of the air fryer (in my case, a fryer with a 6-liter capacity was used) and bake at 320°F for 12 minutes, then lower the temperature to 300°F and bake for an additional 3/4 minutes.
To ensure they are cooked, do the toothpick test: insert it in the center of the camille, and if it comes out dry, they are done. If necessary, extend the baking for a few more minutes at 300°F.
Once cooked, remove the camille and let them cool on a rack. Once cooled, you can enjoy them, and if you prefer, you can dust them with powdered sugar.
Storage
The air fryer camille can be stored for 3/4 days in an airtight container.
