- Difficulty: Very Easy
- Cost: Very Cheap
- Preparation time: 10 Minutes
- Portions: 4 People
- Cooking methods: Air Frying
- Cuisine: Italian
Ingredients
- 1 roll shortcrust pastry
- 200 g provolone cheese
- 2 slices cooked ham
- to taste extra virgin olive oil
Tools
- 1 Air Fryer
- 1 Oil Sprayer
- 1 Pastry Cutter
Steps for Air Fryer Shortcrust Pastries
Start by slicing the provolone into strips (or cubes, if you prefer). Roll out the shortcrust pastry and, using a pastry cutter or a pizza wheel, cut out circles.
Meanwhile, preheat the air fryer to 365°F (185°C) for 3-4 minutes. On each pastry circle, place some roughly chopped cooked ham and a few strips of provolone on one half. Fold the other half of the circle over to form a half-moon, then seal the edges well with your fingers to prevent them from opening during cooking.
Place your pastries in the air fryer basket, and if you prefer, you can spray them with extra virgin olive oil; otherwise, you can cook them without. Cook at 365°F (185°C) for about 10 minutes or until golden brown. Turn halfway through cooking.
If you don’t have an air fryer, you can bake the pastries in a preheated static oven at 375°F (190°C) for about 15 minutes, until golden brown.
Your pastries are ready to be served to your guests. Enjoy your meal!
Storage for Air Fryer Shortcrust Pastries
The cooked pastries can be stored in the refrigerator for up to two days in an airtight container. Before consuming, simply reheat them in the air fryer for a few minutes. They can also be stored raw in the refrigerator, but for no more than one day.
You can fill the pastries according to your taste: for example, replace the cooked ham with mortadella, or opt for the classic filling with smoked scamorza and tomato sauce. In short, let your imagination run wild and have fun with the combinations you prefer!
