If you love dishes that combine simplicity, taste, and a touch of creativity, the rice timbale in air fryer with provolone is an irresistible choice. It’s the modern and light version of an Italian classic, where rice becomes a base ready to welcome a melting heart of provolone that wins you over at the first taste.
- Difficulty: Easy
- Cost: Very economical
- Preparation time: 15 Minutes
- Portions: 2People
- Cooking methods: Air frying
- Cuisine: Italian
Ingredients
- 6 oz Arborio rice
- 1 cup tomato sauce (or ragù)
- as needed provolone (or scamorza)
- as needed grated parmesan
- as needed salt
Tools
- 1 Air Fryer
- 1 Baking Pan
- 1 Spatula
Steps
To prepare the rice timbale in the air fryer, first cook the rice in boiling (salted) water and drain it 4/5 minutes before the end of cooking time.
Season the rice with about half the sauce, add a handful of grated parmesan, and mix to combine everything.
In the baking pan suitable for your air fryer (in my case I used a rigid parchment paper mold), spread 2/3 tablespoons of sauce on the bottom. Add half of the rice and with the help of a silicone spatula distribute it evenly on the bottom of the pan.
Fill with chunks of provolone (or scamorza), add a generous handful of grated parmesan and spread a couple of tablespoons of sauce. Cover everything with the remaining rice and distribute it evenly. To finish, sprinkle the surface with sauce and more parmesan.
Place the pan in the basket of the air fryer and cook at 375°F for 15/20 minutes.
Remove your rice timbale from the air fryer, let it cool for a few minutes, and it’s ready to be served.
Storage
The rice timbale in the air fryer can be stored in the fridge for 2-3 days in an airtight container. When you need to consume it, reheat it for a few minutes.
