The Air Fryer Roasted Chestnuts are truly delicious, and this is the perfect time to enjoy them abundantly or to preserve them. It’s true that 100 grams of chestnuts provide 165 calories, but don’t forget they are rich in nutrients, good for the intestines, the nervous system, and circulation. Before the air fryer, I would cook them on the traditional perforated pan on the stove. I had to always be there to ensure they cooked properly and didn’t burn. Now, with this method, I only need to shake the basket once or twice to ensure they cook evenly. Additionally, with my 5.5-liter air fryer, I can cook up to 2.2 lbs all at once. If you have one, try it immediately; it will amaze you.

How to Prepare Air Fryer Roasted Chestnuts
Thoroughly wash the chestnuts, dry them, and with a sharp knife or chestnut cutter, make two cuts in the shape of an x on the rounded part.
Now place them in a bowl to soak for about 30/40 minutes, so they can rehydrate if not freshly picked. This way, the chestnut will cook better and stay softer.
Dry them, place them directly in the preheated air fryer basket, and cook for 18 minutes at 356°F. During cooking, shake the basket once or twice to ensure more even cooking.
Turn off and serve the Air Fryer Roasted Chestnuts, only after letting them rest for a few minutes, otherwise, you may burn yourself.
Advice, Variations, Notes, and Storage
You can store the roasted chestnuts in a paper bread bag, but they won’t be as fresh as when just made.
I recommend peeling them beforehand, as it will be difficult to remove the skin under the shell otherwise.
You can also freeze them, and if you intend to do so, place them on a plate or tray, without overlapping, so they don’t stick together. Once ready, remove them from the plate, put them in food bags, and store them back in the freezer.
