Dark Chocolate Banana Bars
  • Cost: Economical
  • Preparation time: 15 Minutes
  • Portions: 8 bars
  • Cooking methods: Double Boiler
  • Cuisine: Italian
  • Seasonality: All seasons

Ingredients

  • 3 cups ripe peeled bananas
  • 5.3 oz dark chocolate
  • 2 tablespoons shredded coconut
  • to taste white chocolate
  • to taste sliced almonds

Tools

  • 1 Saucepan
  • 1 Bowl for the double boiler
  • 1 Mold
  • 1 Spatula
  • 1 Knife

Preparation

Peel the bananas, cut them into pieces, and mash them with a fork. Add the coconut and mix the two ingredients well.

Slightly wet the parchment paper and wring it out to better adhere to the chosen mold, and shred the white chocolate. After chopping the dark chocolate, melt it in a double boiler.

Combine it with the banana and coconut puree and mix well. Pour the obtained mixture into a mold, distribute it evenly and level it to achieve a uniform thickness.

Sprinkle the surface of the treat with sliced almonds and pieces of white chocolate. Cover with food wrap and place in the refrigerator for one hour. After this time, place in the freezer for at least 4 hours.

Before serving our Dark Chocolate Banana Bars, remove the block from the freezer and with the help of a sharp knife, cut out the bars to be served immediately. Delicious even if they thaw a bit.

Tips

The bars can be stored in the freezer for about two months, but I recommend cutting them after the first 4 or 5 hours, and putting them back in the freezer inside a container. This way, they will already be portioned and won’t take up much space.

If you don’t like them so cold, you can leave them at room temperature for a few minutes, just long enough to soften them a little. However, be aware that by doing this, they will become a bit sticky, but still delicious.
