Oven-Roasted Beef Marrow is a trendy appetizer among those who love grilling all types of food. Usually, the beef femur is cut vertically so you have the same length but with the marrow exposed. It is then seasoned and placed on the grill. Today I want to propose the same thing but with a home method, using the oven. The result is still excellent, and in this case, everyone can enjoy such a delicious dish without needing to own a barbecue. The recipe has no difficulty and is very quick, so it’s suitable for everyone. Also, at least in butcher shops not part of a supermarket, bones are free. So what are you waiting for? Let me know if you liked them.
Here are some delicious recipes for you to enjoy:
- Preparation time: 10 Minutes
- Portions: 4 people
- Cooking methods: Electric oven
- Cuisine: Italian
- Seasonality: All seasons
Ingredients
- 4 pieces beef femur
- to taste salt and pepper
- 4 slices bread
Tools
- 1 Baking dish
- 1 Baking tray
Preparation
Choose the type of bread you like best (I really love seed bread, nut bread, and in this case, turmeric bread) and cut it into slices about half an inch thick. Place it inside a non-stick baking tray or line it with parchment paper if it’s not non-stick, and bake it in a preheated oven at 392°F for about 7/10 minutes. It should be crunchy only on the outside.
Meanwhile, prepare the beef bones (the femur), which will have already been cut into pieces by your trusted butcher, and place them in a baking dish. Simply season with salt and pepper and bake in the preheated oven at 392°F, letting them cook for about 30 minutes. After this time, you can check if they are cooked just right by poking the marrow with a fork to see if the inside is still red.
Once it reaches the ideal cooking point, the marrow will have slightly shrunk.
Spread our Oven-Roasted Beef Marrow on the bread immediately before it cools down, and eat it immediately.
We can prepare the croutons ourselves or bring the bones directly to the table so that everyone can serve themselves.
Tips
The bones with marrow can be stored in the refrigerator for at least two days, but since the recipe takes very little time, I would say it’s unnecessary. Also, the flavor would change, and you would still have to reheat them, either in the microwave or in a water bath.
However, we can freeze them raw and cook them even when frozen; of course, it will take more time.
Otherwise, let them thaw in the refrigerator and never at room temperature to avoid sometimes unpleasant or serious food poisoning.
