Savory Pie with Meat and Zucchini

The Savory Pie with Meat and Zucchini is delicious both piping hot and gooey or at room temperature if you need to serve it at a buffet. It’s a tasty single dish that can also be served in individual portions when needed. If you don’t like zucchini, you can also fill it with some other type of vegetable, because it will still be delicious. This recipe doesn’t require much cooking skill, so it’s suitable for everyone, even those less experienced. Especially because the pastry used is the ready-made, packaged one. Making puff pastry takes a lot of time, and for this reason, I often use the packaged one. However, in my opinion, having tried all types, only one brand meets the requirements I look for. How to Prepare Savory Pie with Meat and Zucchini

To prepare the Savory Pie with Meat and Zucchini, organize your workspace with all the tools and pre-measured ingredients.

This way, you’ll have everything at hand, and your work will certainly be easier and faster.

Pour the ground beef and pork into a bowl, along with the heavy cream, grated Parmesan cheese, the 2 eggs, a pinch of salt, and mix all the ingredients well.

Place the mixture in the refrigerator until ready to use.

Meanwhile, clean, wash, dry the zucchini, and cut them into pieces along with the onion.

Then pour them into a non-stick pan, sauté with two tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil, and adjust the salt.

Now roll out the puff pastry, including the parchment paper it’s wrapped with, in the baking dish and pierce the bottom with a fork.

Arrange the meat mixture inside, the diced melting cheese, and the sautéed zucchini.

Fold the edges of the pastry over the filling and brush them with the beaten egg.

At this point, bake in an already hot oven at 356°F, for about 40 minutes, or until the pastry is well golden.

Serve your Savory Pie with Meat and Zucchini, immediately, piping hot and gooey, or at room temperature, or even cold if you need it for a buffet.

Advice on Variants and Storage

You can perfectly store the rustic pie in the fridge for a few days, but inside a glass or ceramic container.

It’s also ideal for freezing, to keep it longer, both raw or cooked.

If you don’t like zucchini, fill it with the vegetable you prefer, because it will still be delicious.
