The name of these treats (desert roses) comes from a sedimentary formation typical of countries close to the desert. It is a yellow-ochre mineral formation composed of gypsum crystals that form under specific climatic conditions. When baked, the desert roses resemble these sedimentary formations.

Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup almond flour (if you don't have it, use 1 cup of all-purpose flour and 6 tbsps of potato starch)
- 2 eggs
- 7 oz butter (softened)
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 packet vanillin
- 1 packet baking powder
- 1 packet pine nuts (you can also use raisins or chocolate chips)
- 1 pinch salt
- 3.5 oz corn flakes (crumbled)
- as needed corn flakes (for coating)
Preparation of desert roses
Before starting with the preparation of the dessert, take the butter out of the fridge and leave it on the kitchen counter to soften.
Once softened, cut the butter into cubes and place it in the bowl of a stand mixer with the sugar, vanillin, and salt. Begin to whip the butter with the sugar until you get a cream. Now add the whole eggs, one at a time, to the mixture.
When the eggs are well incorporated, add the flour and let it mix a little, then turn off the mixer and continue working the dough with a spatula, also adding the almond flour.
Next, add the 3.5 oz of crumbled corn flakes and the pine nuts, mixing well until you get a well-blended mixture.
Place some more whole corn flakes in a pan; take a teaspoon of dough at a time and, with the help of your fingers, form balls weighing about 1 oz; roll them in the whole flakes and press until they stick completely to the dough.
Place the roses on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spaced 1.5-2 inches apart, and put them in the preheated oven at 340°F for 10-15 minutes.
When you notice that the roses have taken on an amber color, it will be time to take them out of the oven, let them cool completely, and dust with powdered sugar.
